Proposal 2

Proposal 2- City Boundaries
In many places trying to protect land/ properties has become increasingly appropriate, however sometimes they are quite harsh. For this project I would document city boundaries in Manchester in particular. Many walk through cities like Manchester everyday yet we never notice things other that the people and shops around us. Documenting these types of preventions would open the viewer’s eyes to the state of our country because of how harsh they actually are. The context in which I would be working in would be documentary and object, and the images would be for a gallery scene.
Whilst doing photographs for this idea I will need to consider the weather because of the atmosphere I will need to create. I may also want to use a tripod to get the distance from each boundary I document similar so each image is coherent. In the experiments I do I will need to consider the angle of the shots, whether I shoot straight on, from an angle, close or far away.
Having recently started this project in the city module I have looked into photographers such as Jonathon Olley who records the security measures in Northern Ireland and Donovan Wylie who records empty prisons. I will need to contemplate the style of photographs I want to create because both these photographers record these boundaries/ security measures in black and white.
Initial Shots

These initial shots were taken for the city module, however in this module I want to build on the series by taking photographs that are coherent through the series. These particular images aren’t coherent due to the multiple angles distances in which they are taken. I have edited these photographs into black and white due to the research I earlier mentioned and added coldness they give.
